About

UCLA's Professional Program in Acting for the Camera takes place over three academic quarters at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. In our Scene Study workshops, students use film and television scene work to deepen their ability to consistently deliver honest, fully present performances. In our Acting for the Camera workshops, students learn the acting techniques, set etiquette, and personal strategies necessary to secure work and perform in film and on television. In our Career Development workshop, special industry guests focus on topics like agents and managers, casting directors, branding, business plans, networking, SAG AFTRA, social media, original digital content creation and evolving distribution strategies. This program is limited to 32 students per year. No more than 16 students per class. Every student works every night. FALL QUARTER Focus is on career development, and acting and audition techniques for film and one-hour television drama. Students attend classes three times per week for 10 weeks. SCENE STUDY Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm, or Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm. ACTING FOR THE CAMERA Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm CAREER DEVELOPMENT Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm WINTER QUARTER Focus is on acting and audition techniques for film and single and multi-camera television comedy. Students attend classes two times per week. SCENE STUDY Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm ACTING FOR THE CAMERA Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm SPRING QUARTER Focus is on acting and audition techniques for film and television genres including period, horror, fantasy, and superhero. Students attend classes two nights per week for 10 weeks. In these final Acting for the Camera workshops, students will work on acting and audition techniques directly each week with instructors and/or distinguished guest Directors, Casting Directors and Producers from the film and television industry. SCENE STUDY Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm ACTING FOR THE CAMERA Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7pm to 10pm MASTER CLASSES There are three additional Master Classes as the year progresses with well-known directors, actors, casting directors and producers. Traditionally on Friday nights. Students who successfully finish the program will receive a certificate of completion from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
