Overview
The Ruskin School of Acting is the Los Angeles representative of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, where John Ruskin was Sanford Meisner's apprentice for many years. Ruskin School was opened in 1986 in Santa Monica.

Description
The Ruskin School of Acting is the west coast representative of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre where John Ruskin was Sanford Meisner's apprentice for many years before opening the Ruskin School in 1986.
The school offers a Master Class taught by acclaimed actors and directors. The class meets once a week for a six week session. This class is open to students already enrolled in the Ruskin school or to new students by audition. Each week the students are instructed by a different actor or director.
Past and present teachers include: Anthony Hopkins, Dylan McDermott, Ed Asner, Daniel Attias, Paul Michael Glaser, Bruce Davison, Brenda Vaccaro, Michael O'Keefe, Olivia d'Abo, Chris Mulkey, Paul Sand, John Finn, Tony Bill as well as many others.
The Ruskin School offers classes in the MEISNER TECHNIQUE
First Year- The first year of work is the foundation of Sanford Meisner's entire technique. Exercises in repetition, independent activities, emotional preparation, and scene work. The class meets twice a week.
Second Year- Training in advanced Meisner Technique exercises including work in characterization, relationship, improvisation, and Spoon River Anthologies: applied scenes performed from plays of both modern and classic text. The class meets twice a week.
We also offer classes in Introduction to Meisner Technique, Young Adults Class, Alexander Technique, Commedia dell'Arte, Viewpoints, and Movement Training
